Dr. Melanie Mund

Dr. Linda Matonis

“It’s a special field of medicine where you can make an impact and a difference in people’s lives.”

~Dr. Mund

Obstetrics and Gynecology aren't simply specialized areas of medicine in which Dr. Melanie Mund excels. They are a passion she came to as a calling in her fourth year of medical school after the birth of a daughter.

As a mother of two young children and having a Master’s Degree in Bioethics, Dr. Mund is uniquely qualified to deal with the medicine of obstetrics as well as the art of listening and relating to her patients and identifying with their concerns and needs. “I make an effort to understand from where my patients are coming," Dr. Mund says.

Her instant approachability, comforting voice and devotion to helping patients are complemented by her love of the technical and clinical aspects of being an OB/GYN. “I really like working with my hands,” says the physician who is proficient in minimally invasive da Vinci M robotic surgery.

Outside the office, Dr. Mund, who came to Connecticut from Long Island, is a runner who also takes spinning classes and cherishes being at the beach with her two children. “I also love cooking,” she says of family life with her children and her husband, who is also a physician.

Knowledgeable about the history of medicine, Dr. Mund is also a student of the intersections of science and religion.
